Made in our workshop
A Modern Shaker Kitchen with Natural Warmth
This Telford project brings together the timeless character of a Shaker kitchen with a warmer, more contemporary material palette.
The Stone Grey U722 ST9 cabinetry forms the foundation of the design, balanced by Sonoma Oak internal cabinetry, oak-inspired worktops and natural timber tones throughout the room.
Rather than creating a conventional grey kitchen, the combination introduces warmth, depth and a much softer connection between the cabinetry and surrounding interior.

Stone Grey Meets Sonoma Oak
Stone Grey U722 ST9 provides a soft neutral cabinetry colour without feeling cold. The warmer character of Sonoma Oak naturally complements it, allowing the timber elements to stand out without creating a harsh contrast.
The Colswood Oak laminate worktops continue this warmth across the perimeter, visually connecting with the timber flooring and other natural wood elements within the space.
Black handles, appliances, sink and tap provide the final layer of contrast, giving definition to an otherwise soft and natural colour scheme.

A Bespoke Island at the Heart of the Kitchen
The island becomes the visual centre of the room while deliberately using a lighter surface than the perimeter.
Its bright worktop creates separation from the surrounding oak surfaces, preventing the kitchen from becoming overly timber-led.
Shaker doors are combined with vertical panel detailing, while the extended timber seating section reconnects the island with the wider oak palette.
It creates contrast without disconnecting the island from the rest of the kitchen.

Warm White Lighting & Black Accents
Lighting plays an important part in how these colours are experienced.
The warm white lighting enhances the warmer undertones within both the Stone Grey cabinetry and oak finishes. Above the island, glass pendant lights introduce another layer of warmth while keeping the room visually open.
Black hardware and appliances then provide controlled contrast throughout the design, creating sharper lines against the softer cabinetry.

Designed Around One Complete Palette
What makes the Sonoma Oak & Stone Grey Shaker Kitchen work is the relationship between every material.
The Stone Grey cabinetry provides calmness. Sonoma Oak and the wider timber finishes introduce warmth. The lighter island surface adds freshness, while black accents create definition.
Even the herringbone-style flooring contributes to the composition, carrying the timber character across the room and visually grounding the cabinetry.
The result is a kitchen that feels warm, considered and contemporary without losing the timeless character of Shaker design.

Bespoke from Design to Installation
At Posh Design, the kitchen is considered as a complete interior rather than a collection of individual cabinets.
From the initial measurements and design development through to CGI visualisation, manufacturing and installation, every detail is considered around the room, its architecture and how the client intends to use the space.
The Telford Project demonstrates how a relatively restrained material palette can create character through proportion, texture and carefully controlled contrast.
