( 01: The story )

How the ashwood shaker kitchen came to be.

Place
Edgbaston

The Ashwood Shaker Kitchen is a bespoke PoshDesign kitchen project designed around a calm, classic palette of painted cabinetry, pale stone, warm wood tones and soft architectural lighting. With a large central island, full-height shaker storage, integrated appliances and a roof lantern above, the space feels bright, practical and properly considered. The design balances traditional detailing with a clean modern layout. Framed shaker doors, cornicing, dark handles and herringbone flooring give the room its character, while the island and tall storage runs make the kitchen work hard for everyday family life. It is elegant without feeling formal, detailed without feeling busy, and warm enough to feel lived in from day one.

( 05: Materials & makers )

What this room is made of.

Every Posh Design project is built around its materials. Here is what went into the ashwood shaker kitchen: the cabinetry, the surfaces, the lighting, the things you can touch.

Most projects run between two and six months depending on scope, size, and materials lead times. A single kitchen is typically three to six months; a fitted bedroom or media wall is closer to two to four. Whole-house commissions are run in phased rooms inside the same window. We are quick because the workshop is attached to the studio, every discipline is in-house, and nothing waits on a subcontractor. We give you an honest programme at the first consultation, not after deposit.

Yes. Our workshop is in Birmingham and most projects are within about an hour of our showroom, the West Midlands, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, and Staffordshire. We also take selected commissions in London and Manchester when the project is the right fit.

Every Posh Design project is drawn from scratch around a specific client and home. We can absolutely work with the same materials and approach, but your version will be tailored to your space and will be better for it. Book a consultation and bring photos or a rough floor plan.

Yes. We regularly work inside architect- or designer-led schemes. Our technical team coordinates services, structural openings, and tolerances directly with the wider team and main contractor.

Ten years on cabinetry, finishes, and moving parts. We visit at six months, one year, and five years as standard. If anything needs attention in year eight, we answer the phone, same workshop.
