( 01: The role )
What the job actually is.

A warning about the job title. We do not run a sales floor and we do not read from scripts. The line we use publicly is that the first call a client gets is with a designer, not a sales line, and we mean it. This role is consultative: you are the person who works out what somebody actually wants from a room, tells them honestly what it will cost, and stays with them until it is installed.
What makes that possible is the building. You can walk a hesitant client thirty metres from the showroom into the workshop and show them the drawer box, the spray booth and the joiner who will build their kitchen. Very few people selling kitchens in this country can do that. It is the single strongest thing you will have to work with, and it changes the conversation entirely.
You would be based at the Kings Norton showroom, taking enquiries from the website and from walk-ins, running design visits in clients’ homes, and working with the design and drawing teams to turn a brief into something buildable.
( 02: Day to day )
What you would
be doing.
Written as the job is, not as a job advert. If any of it is a surprise at interview, we have wasted your afternoon and ours.
- 01Take the first call yourself. We tell clients that call comes from a designer rather than a sales line, and in this role you are the person who makes that true.
- 02Run showroom appointments and home design visits: measure up, understand how the family actually uses the room, and set realistic expectations about budget and timescale.
- 03Work with the design studio and drawing office to turn a brief into a specification and a quotation.
- 04Present designs and revisions, and take a client through the decisions that matter without burying them in the ones that do not.
- 05Keep the pipeline honest and up to date in the studio CRM, so nobody is chased twice or forgotten once.
- 06Stay with your clients through manufacture and installation. You sold it, you see it handed over.
- 07Give the workshop useful feedback about what clients keep asking for.
( 03: Essential )
What we need from you.
- A track record of selling something considered and expensive, where the client took weeks to decide. Kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, windows, cars or property all count.
- The confidence to talk about money plainly and early, and the discipline never to promise something the workshop cannot build.
- Genuine interest in design and materials. Clients can tell within a minute whether you care about the room or the order.
- Comfortable with measuring, drawings and specifications, or ready to learn them quickly.
- A full UK driving licence for home visits across the West Midlands.
- Saturday showroom cover on a rota. The showroom is open Saturdays 9am to 3pm.
- The right to work in the UK.
( 04: Helpful, not essential )
Nice, but we can teach it.
- Experience in bespoke or high-end fitted furniture, joinery or interiors.
- Working knowledge of a kitchen design package such as ArtiCAD, Winner or Fusion.
- Familiarity with appliance and worktop specification, and with the brands we work with.
- Experience selling from a showroom that manufactures, so you already know how much that changes the pitch.
Do not rule yourself out over this column. Nobody has ever arrived with all of it.
( 05: In return )
What you get back.
( The package )
Basic and commission structure discussed at interview and set against your experience. Tell us what you are looking for in your application and we will be straight with you about whether it works.
- 01A showroom with a working 6,000 sq ft workshop attached, so every claim you make can be walked to and pointed at.
- 02Enquiries that come to the studio through the website, the portfolio and the showroom door, rather than a cold list you are handed and told to work.
- 03Direct access to the designers, draughtsmen and joiners who will build what you sell. No account manager in between.
- 04The ten year guarantee behind you, which changes what you are allowed to promise and how the conversation feels.
- 05A small studio where the founders are on site and decisions do not take a fortnight.
( 06: Apply )
Tell us about yourself.
This goes straight to the studio, not to an agency and not into a keyword filter. A few honest lines are worth more than a perfect CV, and every application gets a reply either way.
If you would rather talk first, ring 0121 446 6859 and say you are calling about the Sales Consultant role.
( 07: Also open )
( 08: Not quite this one )
Still worth a letter. We hire people, not vacancies.
If this role is close but not right, say so in an email rather than talking yourself out of it. Tell us what you do and what you want to be doing, and we will tell you honestly whether there is something here now or worth waiting for.
