What the job actually is.
Everything we sell is made in the building it leaves from. That makes the drive the last stage of manufacture rather than an errand at the end of it. A door that arrives chipped is a door that gets sprayed twice, a client who waits, and a fitter standing idle in someone’s kitchen.
You would be loading and delivering hand-finished cabinetry, worktops, hardware and tools across the West Midlands, with occasional longer runs when a project takes us further, and working alongside the fitting teams once you are on site. On most days you are also the first person from the studio the client sees that morning, which matters more than the mileage does.

What you would
be doing.
Written as the job is, not as a job advert. If any of it is a surprise at interview, we have wasted your afternoon and ours.
- 01Load, secure and deliver finished cabinetry, worktops and hardware from the Kings Norton workshop to client homes and sites.
- 02Plan the day’s route and timings with the workshop and the fitting teams, and flag a slipping schedule early rather than on arrival.
- 03Handle hand-painted and lacquered pieces with the care a wet finish needs, and protect them properly in the van.
- 04Help the fitters carry into the property, and set out to the room they are working in.
- 05Keep the van clean, loaded correctly and legal, and report defects the day you notice them.
- 06Collect materials and hardware from suppliers as the programme requires.
- 07Represent the studio properly in an occupied home: dust sheets, sensible parking, and shoes off where they should be.

What we need from you.
- A full UK driving licence, and confidence driving a long-wheelbase van through Birmingham traffic and onto tight residential streets.
- Care with delicate, expensive, hand-finished items. This is the whole job, not a detail of it.
- A civil, calm manner in someone’s home, sometimes at eight in the morning, sometimes when the news is a delay.
- Physically able to lift and manoeuvre cabinetry and stone with another person.
- Reliability about time. A late van moves an entire fitting team’s day.
- The right to work in the UK.

Nice, but we can teach it.
- Experience delivering furniture, joinery, glass, stone or other high-value fragile goods.
- A working knowledge of kitchens or fitted furniture, enough to know which way up a carcass goes.
- Manual handling training, or a forklift or telehandler ticket.
- Basic hand-tool competence, so you can be useful on site when a fitting team is stretched.
Do not rule yourself out over this column. Nobody has ever arrived with all of it.
